# Slippage

> How to set slippage for DEX Aggregator swaps: a fixed tolerance, or automatic slippage based on how volatile the tokens are.

This page is part of the DEX Aggregator docs. The aggregator is at `https://router.intear.tech`, with live quotes at `wss://router.intear.tech/route/subscribe`, on NEAR mainnet only. https://docs.intear.tech/dex-aggregator/llms-full.txt has all of its pages in one file, and https://docs.intear.tech/llms.txt lists every page of the Intear docs.

Slippage is how much worse than the estimate the result may be before the swap fails. It's set with `slippage_type` and one or two values, written as a fraction: `0.01` is 1%, `0.001` is 0.1%.

## Fixed

```
slippage_type=Fixed&slippage=0.01
```

Uses exactly the slippage you give. Must be between `0` and `1`.

## Auto

```
slippage_type=Auto&min_slippage=0.001&max_slippage=0.05
```

Picks a slippage between `min_slippage` and `max_slippage` based on how volatile the tokens are. Both must be between `0` and `1`, and `max_slippage` must not be less than `min_slippage`.

How far toward `max_slippage` it goes depends on the more volatile of the two tokens, the exact formula is available on [GitHub](https://github.com/INTEARnear/dex-aggregator).

Use Auto when you trade many different tokens and don't want to tune slippage for each one: established tokens get tighter limits than fresh meme tokens. For a pair you know is stable, like USDt/USDC, Fixed slippage can be used for a better control.

## Limits

The slippage accepts 0 and 1, but it's actually clamped to between 0.01% and 99.99%.

## Routes without slippage

Wrap quotes are 1:1 conversions with a guaranteed result: their `worst_case_amount` equals `estimated_amount`, and the slippage setting doesn't matter.
